For the email address associated with my club site, I get literally thousands of spam emails per week. Most of these are intercepted but it's an eyeopener to see the huge numbers of emails that pass into the 'spam box'.
For this very reason, it's a bad idea to put your email address on your club's website. There are lots of free, simple, php-based email forms that require people to enter their email on your website, send it via your website, and not get your email address from it unless you reply. It's a
minimal inconvenience for anyone who wants to contact you, and it prevents your email address from being culled by any spam-bot that crawls your page. You can see example forms on both of my web pages below. I still occasionally get targeted (MA-related) spam through this form, but it's impossible for anyone to mass-spam me through the form.
